Offline-first field service app for Android

A native Android app for technicians to receive jobs, capture readings and photos, and close work orders even without a network connection.

Problem

Technicians filled in paper job sheets on site, often in basements and plant rooms with no signal, and the office re-typed them days later.

Objective

Let technicians complete every job on the phone, offline if needed, and have the data reach the office as soon as a connection returns.

Solution

  1. 01

Jobs, checklists and asset history are stored on the device, so the app works fully offline.

  2. 02

WorkManager syncs completed jobs in the background and resolves conflicts with the server by record version.

  3. 03

ML Kit text recognition reads meter values and serial numbers from the camera, so they are not typed by hand.

  4. 04

The customer signs on screen, and a PDF job report is generated and emailed on sync.
